Going gothic
Posted from Avignon, Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur, France.
I had a relaxed day of rest in Avignon.
There is plenty to see and visit in Avignon. I spent the whole morning in the Popes Palace, the biggest gothic palace in the world. Later I went to walk over the famous bridge of Avignon. But surprise, surprise, there is only half a bridge. It is truncated and only 4 arches remain of originally 22. It was destructed constantly by the raging floodwaters of the Rhone and finally abandoned already in the 17th century.
From the towers of the Popes Palace you have a 360 degree view of the surroundings. In the background you can see the Mont Ventoux which has become legendary as one of the most grueling climbs in the Tour de France. I definitely won´t go up there, because tomorrow is going to be a hard day anyway. I will head north again and this time the Mistral will blow into my face.

Hi Michael,
Good to see you are moving forward. Sorry for our silence over the last days. I was travelling in Germany and Silvina very busy. We will now continue watching your steps.
Have a good ride today.
Silvina and Andreas
🙂 hab weiterhin viel spass in la belle France. Guten Tritt! 🙂
Hatten heut Nacht 0 Grad! Also, immer 2 cm luft unter der Felge…
thanks for having checked Wikipedia. is there no train to mont ventoux? if not, we recommend a taxi!
by the way, raymond wants to know how beate is.
greetings, raymond, richard & benjamin
o tempore o mores!
again a day of rest? if uou were not biking, why didn’t you come down to alicante to play football?
hopefully you did not forget to lighten a candle to avoid the mistral!
