On the road again
Posted from Sitges, Catalonia, Spain.
First of all at this moment a big thanks to all the writers of the comments, it is really good to know that you are following me and your support was giving me strength in some moments of doubts in the last days!
Today I hit the road again and all went well. I did less kilometers than in the previous days and spent only 4 hours in the saddle. The knees withstood more or less. I will probably have to accept that there will be a latent pain in the knees on the rest of the trip.
Some parts of the todays route followed the old roman Via Augusta. My particular moment of glory came when I passed under an old roman triumphal arch which stands there on the way since more than 2000 years. At least this feeling I can share now with the winners of the Tour de France …
When I stood there and admired this old monument I thought about how the romans would call me. Probably “Pedalus Maximus” is not a bad guess.
Todays route: 75,54 km
Hola Pedalus Maximus. I see you are growing a beard on this trip. It looks like you are cycling so fast that your trip will end in 2 weeks!! I hope your knee is getting better again and not bothering too much anymore.
Keep the good German/Spanish spirit. You home front friends/family have high expectations that next to the fysical and mental effort, that you enjoy it as much as possible.
Un abrazo, Jacqueline
Animo Michael! En la oficina nos pones los dientes largos con tu viaje. Vaaaaamos Bayern! Hoy remontada!
Michael, tienes tiempo………Parate un poco en Barcelona y cogete una phisio para hacerte masages. Despues vas a volar………..Venga Animo………
Ah the old Via Augusta! That goes back a bit – maybe beyond even the Perpetuus’s recollection. It would be intesting to follow the old roman road system as far you could go. I supppose you could get Augsberg or Mainz, but I should think that the Dickas homeland is beyond the borders of the “Imperium Romanum” – where the “barbarians “drink beer instead of wine and when they come upon wine having captured a village they gulp it down in pints as they would beer not realising or caring to realise the extra potency, for the barbarians revel in getting drunk”.
Dont worry I’m a barbarian myself!
Ánimo desde Alicante, seguro que tus rodillas se recuperan… Y sigues haciendo los kilómetros previstos. Te vamos siguiendo…
happy to ser you on the road again. animo!
